Fleur De Lis Cross Pendant
The Huguenot fleur de lis cross pendant is a badge Protestant emerged in the South of France. Some sources state that had been created three years after the revocation of the Edict of Nantes (1685) by a goldsmith in Nimes, called Maystre. In 1938, the Reformed Church of France (in French "Église Réformée de France) sought an evocation of this popular emblem in its official logo. Today it has spread worldwide as a symbol of the Reformed faith. Among the Waldenses has been adopted as a symbol to express their faith. The fleur de lis cross pendant eminently Christian symbol since it refers to the atoning death of Jesus of Nazareth, also refers to his victory over death and wickedness. Its shape is called a fleur de lis cross pendant kick by the characteristics of the arms shrink to get downtown. However, seen here together in eight ends, referring to the eight beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount (Gospel of Matthew, chapter 5, verses 3 to 10), standards of living for the sincere Christian. Between the arms of the cross, stylized lilies (which, on the shields of France, representing the Holy Trinity), also remembered for his willingness concentric pieces of the crown of thorns of Christ, and define, together with arms of the cross, four hearts (the crown and heart are symbols that refer to the sufferings of Christ in place of humanity). As a pendant, the dove is a symbol of the Holy Spirit, who "testifies with our spirit that we are children of God" (Rom 8, 16 NIV). It's the same pigeon that was present at the baptism of Jesus. Sometimes the representation of a bulb containing this oil replaces dove Huguenot cross pendant. This lamp takes the form of gout, and also called trissou, according to the regional speech. However, this trissou can have at least two sources. It may represent the "tears of persecution" or "tongues as of fire" that descended upon the heads of the disciples of Jesus on the day of Pentecost. Another interpretation of the four concentric hearts indicates that it is an evocation of the Father's love. Some also interpret a representation of God the Father, the Creator, in the rays that go from the center to each arm of the cross, like a sun. So the three elements of the Trinity would be represented: the Father (Ray, hearts), the Son (the cross, hearts) and the Holy Spirit (the dove). . . .
